About Nick Rerras
Nick Rerras was first elected to the Virginia State Senate in 1999. Nick serves on four Senate Committees:
- Courts of Justice (Public Safety committee)
- Transportation
- Commerce and Labor
- Education & Health
Nick also serves as vice-chair of the multi-state Chesapeake Bay Commission, and as a member of the Joint Commission on Health Care, the Small Business Commission and the Virginia War Memorial Foundation. He is a past member of the Commission on Youth and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Commission.
Senator Rerras was honored as the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) "Senator of the Year" and Sheriff's Association "Legislator of the Year" for his strong support for law enforcement and public safety. On the Eastern Shore, Nick was honored to receive the prestigious "Outstanding Service Award" from the Virginia Potato and Vegetable Growers Association.
Nick has over 21 years experience in business development and marketing for computer firms. Nick specializes in marketing technology and engineering services to federal government customers such as the U.S. Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and the Department of State.
Nick was born and raised in Norfolk and is the son of Greek immigrants. After graduating from Granby High School in the mid-seventies, Nick served in the United States Army 9th Infantry Division and was twice selected as the Soldier of the Quarter. Nick has an Associates Degree in Electronics Technology from Tidewater Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Philadelphia Biblical University.
Nick has been married to his wife Gayle for 22 years. They are the proud parents of four children, Nicholas (19), Helena (18), Costas (14) and Robert (3).
