Nick Rerras In The News<< Return to News Archive On Rerras: The family values candidate
To the editor: On deciding who receives my vote as a candidate for public office, the first and foremost point I consider are the candidates' stand on family values and moral issues. I offer for your consideration an excerpt from a letter recently received from incumbent 6th District state Sen. Nick Rerras concerning some of the conservative values he has supported as your state senator and I consider these issues to be of utmost importance, also. The pro-family issues Rerras has stood behind are: Leading the successful effort to protect traditional marriage by passing a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman. Voting to ban barbaric late-term "partial birth" abortions and consistently opposing the use of tax dollars to fund abortions. Protecting parental rights in raising their children by making sure government does not overstep its bounds. Opposing attempts to pass euthanasia in Virginia that would have the state end the lives of our elderly and infirm. Fighting for the rights of our school children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and having a moment of silence before the school day begins despite the opposition of liberal Democrats in Richmond who were determined to stop us. Please make sure that you and your family members and friends vote in this crucial election. This state senate election could determine whether or not there will be a majority in the state senate that respects human life. Jerry D. Killmon | ||||||||||||
