Rerras has led the fight in Richmond to protect the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel's (CBBT) funding and independence. Nick understands that the bridge-tunnel is the best managed and maintained transportation system in Virginia, and the funds raised through tolls must be used only for bridge-tunnel improvements. Protecting the bridge is always a top priority for Rerras. As vice chairman of the Chesapeake Bay Commission, Rerras is working to improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Rerras has supported record investments of over $500 million for bay and river clean-up. Nick also strongly supports Virginia's conservation tax credit. As a father whose children attend public schools, Rerras will continue to work hard to ensure that our kids have the highest quality education. That's why he supported historic investments in our public education, both K-12 and Virginia's colleges and universities. Fighting against high electric rates is a top priority of Rerras'. He twice appeared before the Virginia State Corporation Commission last year to argue against high electricity rates. Rerras also worked to ensure the re-regulation legislation requires that local power companies must honor their agreements to provide fair “cost of service” rates. Nick has over 25 years experience in business development for computer and technology firms. Rerras' understanding of technology will continue to be of assistance to the General Assembly as he seeks to help make the Eastern Shore an even better place to live, work, raise a family, and retire. Rerras and his wife, Gayle, have been married for 22 years. They are the proud parents of four children, Nicholas (19), Helena (17), Costas (14), and Robert (2). Rerras is a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Army's 9th Infantry Division, and was twice honored as Soldier of the Quarter.
